“Not having education… Feeling guilty and insulting..?”

“Not having education… Feeling guilty and insulting..?”
“Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.”- Kofi Annan

Education as a social Status: Education, according to some philosophers, is about creating good citizens. Good citizens are prosperous economically and socially and hold high positions in society. Yes! People with high educational backgrounds enjoy high social status and prestige. A person’s thoughts, mentality, and behaviour determine whether they are educated or uneducated. Knowledge and wisdom come from education.

Successful but not educated?

There are many people in our society who are very successful in their life. Some are successful in business, some in politics, and some in social work activities. Someone has a job in a good place. But if their education is low then sometimes they have to face difficulties in life.

Feeling guilty

Because of their low education or lack of higher education, they find it difficult to live in society or many of them feel ashamed of it. No matter how much money they have, their lack of education makes them lack confidence. They feel guilty. Every time they feel discomfort, not just those people but everyone around them.

Money is not everything

No matter how successful you are in your field, no matter how much wealth you have, no matter how much jewellery you have, no matter how much luxury car you have, no matter how much gold chain you have around your neck, high educational status or higher knowledge is more important and weighty than anything else. For example, some people have a style of wearing more and more gold on their body and they have more wealth. But their prestige in society is very low compared to the highly educated.

Marriage proposal issues

People with a higher level of education are more likely to get married in the first place when compared with less-educated people. One thing is clear about marriage these days. A less educated boy or girl has difficulty in getting good marriage proposals. Many people from affluent families remain unmarried even after old age due to poor education or their marriages become so obscure.

Certification and licenses

There are many skilled artisans in our society who do business. E.g. Contractors in technical fields include electricians, welders, builders, etc. Some people learn work and skills after 10th standard and start their own business. But to get government contracts or licenses, they need to be academically qualified, they need to have an educational qualification like ITI, engineering diploma, degree. But it was difficult for those with low education to get a license. Most people do business with someone else’s license.

Solution

There may be various reasons behind this such as, Poverty, Early Marriage, job transfer of parents, Health problems, Family quarrels, Failure in the exam, Early age Job, Business Opportunities, Responsibilities, etc. But now there are many government-approved ways of learning like distance learning, online learning, fast track degrees, etc. No matter how old your education is, no matter what your age, you can complete your education.
