Doing Ph.D. With Just 10% Efforts. Myth or Reality?

  1. Ph.D. Is Huge Task?

There is a general misconception that PhD is very tough exam to crack & not everyone can do that, but that is just a myth. People misunderstand the PhD course. One of the most misleading myths about PhD study is that it requires exceptional intelligence and that only a small number of remarkable people can achieve a doctorate.

This isn’t true.

A PhD isn’t an intelligence test. It’s a research project. A doctorate won’t turn you into a genius (or confirm that you already are one). It will make you an expert in a very specific topic in a very specific field. There are many myths about Ph.D.:

  • You have to be a genius to do a PhD.
  • PhDs are only for people who want to be academics.
  • A PhD is just three years of research.
  • A PhD should lead to a brilliant, world-changing, discovery.
  • PhD study is lonely, depressing and unrewarding.

  1. Divide & Assign Task

Research paper of PhD consists of many things like general introduction, a literature review, an overall description of the materials and methods, a presentation of all the results, data analysis, research methodology and a general discussion—or in “manuscript format”. If you divide your tasks & assign a particular date, it would be much easier for you to accomplish your goal. One of the most important things is to know how to ask for help when needed. Knowing when and how to ask for help can make navigating this unknown terrain much easier and saves your time by avoiding the mistakes (or experiments) that others have made. You can take help from someone to publish your research paper as well.

  1. You Just Own Concept

You should know everything about only your field to prepare for PhD. A PhD is a study in itself, and while your previous schooling might have prepared you partially for your PhD, there is always knowledge and skills you miss when you start. Nothing to worry about – you will have the time to fill up the gaps in your knowledge and develop new skills. But you should know the core knowledge for your PhD field. The thesis for a doctoral programme should reflect originality and validity as well. You should take into consideration subjects you are really passionate about or really interested in and see in what way these can become the subject of your doctoral thesis.
