How to Save Your Years & Do One Seating Degree, MBA By Using Credit Transfer & Lateral Entry?

“Credit transfer” means allowing a student of another recognized university to get admitted to another university for completing any equivalent degree programme on the basis of credits obtained by him/her from that University. A student thus admitted need not write Directorate Of Distance Education examinations for such courses which are found equivalent to and for which appropriate credits would be deemed to have been acquired for, and for purposes of fulfilling the Directorate Of Distance Education requirements for award of a degree.

“Lateral Entry” means an applicant who has passed an unassembled examination consisting of an appraisal of training, education, experience, work history or any other means for evaluating relative qualifications. A student/candidate thus admitted need not write Directorate Of Distance Education examinations for such courses which are found equivalent to and for which appropriate lateral entry would be deemed to have been acquired for, and for purposes of fulfilling the Directorate Of Distance Education requirements for award of a degree. In case of lateral entry admission to MBA, the degree shall be awarded on the basis of aggregate of marks obtained in 3rd and 4th semester including project based on internship and viva-voce examination.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • The credit transfer scheme is applicable only to those candidates who have not completed their degree from any other recognised university but are willing to complete it through Directorate Of Distance Education as per rules provided.
  • Normally credit transfer will be applicable only from a graduate degree to a graduate degree and post graduate to post graduate degree respectively.
  • Normally lateral entry will be applicable only from a graduate degree to a graduate degree and post graduate to post graduate degree respectively.

 

Instruction to be followed

  • Credit transfer will be permissible for those students who have completed 1st year or 2nd year through regular, distance or private mode from any recognized university.
  • Credit transfer can be done only on the basis of individual courses and not on the basis of year-to-year courses as in conventional institutions.
  • Lateral Entry will be permissible only in the case of students coming from institutions recognised by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB).
